In a tiny village in the mountains of Gorski Kotar, we came upon a woman who works day and night to create THE most beautiful lace pieces we've ever seen! This lace-making is a passion of hers, it is her form of self-expression, and it is an art form from Croatia that without a doubt should be protected and preserved. 

Crochet and lace making is an old folk art also known as "drawing" with a thread! Durda Pintar Janes learned this art as a small girl from her family and is mainly self-taught due to her enthusiasm and love of crochet.

This INTRICATE crocheted lace piece is a beautiful orange that is trimmed in off-white, which took countless hours to create. It measures a generous 11 inches in diameter.
