In a tiny village in the mountains of Gorski Kotar, we came upon a woman who works day and night to create THE most beautiful lace pieces we've every seen! This lace-making is a passion of hers, it is her form of self-expression, and it is an art form from Croatia that without a doubt should be protected and preserved. 

Crochet and lace making is an old folk art also known as "drawing" with a thread! Ðurđa Pintar Janes learned this art as a small girl from her family and is mainly self-taught due to her enthusiasm and love of crochet.

This BEAUTIFUL piece is a vibrant CROATIAN BLUE in color, and features a unique cut-out design, perfect for the holidays! It's scalloped edges are detailed and precise; the piece is edged using a lot of SILVER sparkly threads which really set it off! It measures a generous 10.5 inches in diameter.
