In a tiny village in the mountains of Gorski Kotar, we came upon a woman who works day and night to create THE most beautiful lace pieces we've ever seen! This lace-making is a passion of hers, it is her form of self-expression, and it is an art form from Croatia that without a doubt should be protected and preserved. 

Crochet and lace making is an old folk art also known as "drawing" with a thread! Durda Pintar Janes learned this art as a small girl from her family and is mainly self-taught due to her enthusiasm and love of crochet.

This STUNNING lace piece features a natural tea-color in the center, and has been created using an absolutely gorgeous design which has precise, detailed edges, and which is so intricate that it took countless hours to create; it measures a generous 10.75 inches in length and is 6.5 inches in width; it incorporates the TROBOJNICA (Croatian colors of red, white and blue) along the borders. It also has an amazing "TOLEDO" lace design!
