I cannot remember the last time we have been so enthusiastic about a Cd! This newly-imported Croatian Cd includes traditional lullabies from not only Croatia, but also from the U.S., Germany, Spain, and from the classical music tradition. They are all sung in Croatian language by Rijeka vocalist Leonora Surian, accompanied on harp by Vlasta Hribar, who is also from Rijeka. Indeed, the music is absolutely captivating---for adults and children alike---and you don't even have to understand the Croatian language in order to enjoy this Cd!
The title for the Cd is derived from the now-famous traditional Christmas carol sung in honor of baby Jesus, that has since become a popular lullaby in the Hispanic world: "Nanita Nana." This lullaby is a dedication to the Virgin Mary, and Leonora's and Vlasta's rendition is sure to please audiences around the world. It's simply beautiful.
Our favorite lullaby is "Mala Sovica," or "My Little Owl" by I. Prajo & A. Kunštek. The melody is amazing, and you'll find yourself---as we did---wanting to play it over and over again. (You can listen to it here!)
SO, we KNOW that babies and children will enjoy these wonderful lullabies, but you adults out there...don't hesitate to play this Cd for yourselves...and allow this extraordinary music to transport you to a quiet, contemplative place. You won't be sorry.
On the CD are the 10 most beautiful and most popular traditional and new lullabies that marked Leonora and Vlasta's childhood.
