Let's applaud the efforts of the upcoming generation of tambura musicians, most especially Angela White's!  Angela's talents extend beyond the skill of tambura-playing, as she has included TWO songs that she has written.

Let's support Angela, and all of our emerging, very talented young musicians in their efforts to keep tambura music alive and thriving. The continuation of our traditions and culture depend on it!

"I have grown up doing this my whole life. Tambura music is what keeps me happy in life. My heritage is so important to me. Having learned from my mother Kathy White and aunt Eileen Martin as well as my grandma, the late Angie Zadravec, I am so lucky to have come from such a musical family. In addition, I was provided many awesome opportunities to play with "Tamburitza Queen" Libby Fill, and I am lucky enough to have learned from the one and only Jerry Grcevich. I grew up listening to Ravnica & Marta Nikolin, Seoski Lopovi, Steve Vesolich, Miro & Jerry.... I could go on and on. I started learning piano at age 4; I also joined the Happy Hearts (Veselo Srce) under the capable direction of my grandmother when I was 4 years old, and there I learned to dance kolos. At age 8, I learned to play the G-prim (even though I preferred tinkering with the D-prim at home). By 13, I was being taught bugarija chords, and that is my primary instrument to this day. I sort of figured out brač, čelo, and bass along the way. The only difference in structure is the size, really, so that was nothing big. Through Jerry Grcevich and his knowledge, I learned to play E-kontra; I also learned the art of recording sound-on-sound. Meanwhile, I met my good Macedonian friend ("adopted cousin") Jeff Mentzer when I was in my upper teenage years. It was he who assisted me in the process of recording from home. I decided when I was 18 that I would make my first CD by the time I was 21. I am proud to say I released my first CD, Devet, a week before my 22nd birthday. On Devet, you will find 10 songs that I really enjoy. One features my friend Jeff Mentzer on vocals, and another features my friend Steve Graša on vocals. Aside from my featured vocalists, I sang all the parts, played all the instruments, and recorded and produced everything from my living room. I have also included two of my own compositions on this CD.  I truly hope you enjoy every piece of "Devet." I am a senior in college, working toward my 4-year degree in human resource management at Youngstown State University's Williamson College of Business Administration. I will be graduating in spring 2016."
