Product Description

Split citizen Nasja Bošković Meyer's life in her early twenties took her to America. As coincidence would have it, in her parents' home in Split, she met her future husband, an American, Art Meyer, who came to visit as a friend of her brother, Zdeslava. Following their wedding, Nasja and Art continued to live in St. Louis in the U.S. state of Missouri. He was born there and so were their three children.

As a high school student, Nasja Bošković showed a real gift for writing poetry. Her first collection was published during the seventies. That collection is one that a professor at the Faculty of Philosophy, Ph. D.. Branka Kalogjera, reviewed very positively.

Her second collection of poetry entitled, Five Red Rubies, was published and presented for circulation by Bošković, on the occasion of Nasja's birthday on the 19th of July where there was a promotion held at the Hotel Park in Split. It was a lovely setting for the announcement.

During the promotion, Zoran Bošković spoke on behalf of the publishing company, and Branko Lest spoke also, representing the Croatian Heritage Foundation. Her poetry was read by the author herself, Nasja Bošković Meyer.

This book is a series, chronologically sequenced in time with the emergence of five sections. There are previously unreleased poems from the early days of the author's creative years, up to and including her most recent poetry. There are a lot of autobiographical elements, but also much nostalgia for her homeland and for her hometown of Split. In this way, those Croatians who live in the diaspora, and even 2nd and 3rd generation Croatian-Americans (as well as Croatian-Canadians or Croatian-Australians) can relate to Nasja's work.

We are richer for Nasja Bošković Meyer's sensitve and inspiring poetry anthology.

(This book is only available in Croatian language. 280 pages. Published in Croatia.)
