Product Description

In Croatia, there is a very long tradition of coloring eggs, decorating them with many signs and symbols considered to be good luck. To say the eggs are "painted" falls far short of the intense work it takes to make these eggs. The eggs are “written”  so they are called "pisanice" a word which derives from the word "pisati." The tool used is a "pisaljica” or "pisalka" and the "ink" is hot beeswax. Starting from the lightest color to the last ground color, the designs are first written with beeswax and then dipped in the lightest color, then they are written again with beeswax and dipped into the next color and so on until the design is completed.

This is a booklet written by SANDRA, who also creates our beautiful PISANICE! There are step-by-step instructions and photographs to help the reader learn this wonderful tradition!
