This amazing water-colour etching is by acclaimed Croatian artist, Josip Generalic. Josip Generalic, who died in 2004, is the son of the Master of Naïve Art in Croatia, Ivan Generalic. This graphic is first hand-printed on a paper using a large press and a copper-plate in black and white, a medieval technique that was first developed by Albrecht Durer during the 15th century. The artist then applies water colours to paint these exquisite, one-of-a-kind, original works of art. "Return to Nature" (Povratak Prirodi) is a perfect piece of art for those who enjoy the sense of nature that this piece evokes. Might this be a depiction of the lives of the Roma (Gypsies) who sometimes would camp just outside Croatian villages---which in this work is visible just at the top of the hill in the background? It measures 14.75inches x 10.5in. SIGNED BY THE ARTIST, 1968 E-mail a friend about this item. | |||||||||||||||
